First Beanie

After a little experimenting and a lot of trial and error, I am finally satisfied with my first baby beanie. I'm not crazy about the colors (they are a lot brighter than they look in the pictures), but I was just using up the extra yarn from her blanket. I have to admit, crocheting is very therapeutic for me.

Her One True Love

Last week I decided Norah might be ready for the "fresh food feeder" so we tried it out. Holy cow!! She absolutely loves it. I filled it with frozen mangos and she would get mad if we even touched it! She's never been this way with anything, yet. It keeps her busy for a while which is great when I have to get some things done. Plus, it's really cute because she chews and sucks on it, then looks at it, and goes at it again.

Last Monday for family night we headed up the mountain to Brighton Ski Resort so Joe could get some snowboarding in before the season ends. We met up with his cousin John and John's wife Torrie (who, by the way, was three days before her due date!! Bless her soul). We girls sat in the lodge and drank about 4 cups of hot cocoa while the boys froze their little tushies off. They are a fun couple and we all decided we need to hang out more often!

Thursday

Attention all Utahns

I don't know if you've heard but about a week ago this lovely man to the left (Governor Huntsman) signed a bill stating that the first 1,600 people to buy a home in Utah will receive a $6,000 grant to do what you wish with. That is in addition to the first-time-home-buyer's $8,000 tax credit. There are a couple of stipulations, the main being that it has to be a new (never lived in) house. You can read more about it here. Let the house hunting begin!

Sunday

Hiking

Yesterday was a beautiful day! We went on a hike after we checked out a few garage sales. It was a fun day and Owen especially was extremely happy. We have all been sick here for the past week so it was really nice to get some fresh air! We went a little late in the day so Norah had her dinner at the top and fell asleep on the way back which was hard to believe because it did not look very comfortable. Norah loves to be outside. Owen was happy to be free and unleashed. He would run ahead and make sure there were no mountain lions ahead (according to Joe). You can see him in the background of the picture of Norah eating. We didn't really hike to the top of anything but when we reached a point where we could see Mount Timpanogos and about 50 miles the other way, we felt grateful to be living on such a beautiful earth. It will definitely be a Saturday tradition throughout the summer.

Friday

ChaCha!

Have you ever heard of ChaCha? You can text ChaCha (242242) or call (1-800-2ChaCha) with any question you have and they will text you back the answer within minutes. Weather reports, sport schedules, addresses, definitions, scientific equations, you name it. It's pretty amazing! The answers are found by ChaCha guides who work from home. As of yesterday, I am an official ChaCha guide! I can work whenever my schedule permits (or I should say Norah's schedule), make as much or as little as I want, and it's a lot of fun! So go ChaCha something you've always wanted to know! It's kind of addicting!

Sunday

Park City

This weekend we took a trip to Park City and stayed at a beautiful resort snuggled right up to the mountain. We went with our good friends Erika, Ephraim and their son, Enoch, who is two months older than Norah. It was a lot of fun and a much needed getaway. We drove up Friday evening and although I'm partial to the East's greenery I will admit that it was a beautiful drive given the mountains. Since the babies were ready for bed by the time we got there, Joe got a quick 10 minute swim in before we headed to the room for the night. Saturday we walked around the outlet mall, ate some lunch, and then walked down Main Street. One noteworthy occurrence was that while walking through "downtown" Park City there were about 10 people who were quick to approach us and say, "Awwww WOW what a beautiful dog!" (yes, we brought Owen) and after a little chit chat about how old he is, etc would realize we had a baby and then say "Oh and beautiful baby too!" We just thought it was interesting because it was very typical of those "mountain sorts." All in all it was a fun weekend! The best part: we didn't spend any money, except on the gas to get there.

Here is a semi-recent picture of Enoch and Norah:

Monday

Five Months Old

Last night I was feeling so grateful to be a mother. I think all mothers feel that way every once in a while. I just wanted to scoop up my sleeping bug and cuddle her. I laid next to Joe and we just talked about all the cute little things she does. It's so hard to imagine her growing and getting any cuter but I know she will! Anyway, here are some recent pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Yummy prunes:
Daddy got Norah ready for bed and forgot to put a onesie underneath her PJs. So he put one on top. That with the 2-sizes-too-big socks made her look like a little retro 80s chick:
Best buddies wearing matching PJs:
Here's Shelley reading Toby and Norah a story. Toby is such a little cutie and it's fun to have him and his brother Rowan around to play with during the day:
